Lee Fields
By Charlotte Stace
The American singer and songwriter, Lee Fields, comes to Sala Apolo to perform live. The singer is one of funk and soul’s best known performers. After releasing his first single in 1969, the singer has gone on to have a sensational decades-long career.
Aside from his solo work - most notably his hit album Let's Talk It Over (1979) - he has worked with some of the biggest names in the business: Kool and the Gang, Darrell Banks, B.B. King, Denise LaSalle, The Manhattans, Little Milton and Bobby Womack. Yet, his most recent work has been with the group The Expressions and includes the albums Faithful Man (2012), Special Night (2017), and It Rains Love (2019).
Fields is sometimes nicknamed Little JB - for his physical and vocal resemblance to James Brown. So much so that, in 2014, his vocals featured in the James Brown biographical movie, Get On Up.
