Meatbodies
By Kit Macdonald

A prolific sonic adventurer and multi-instrumentalist, Chad Ubovich formed Meatbodies in the early 2010s, a psych/stoner/garage-rock band emerging from the same fertile scene that spawned Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin and Fuzz, all of whom Ubovich has also been musically involved with. Meatbodies' sound is heavy on the fuzz-drenched guitars, booming riffs and surreal energy, coming out with a delicious fusion of classic garage rock and psychedelic, spaced-out psych that has won them a loyal, committed fanbase.
Ubovich's songwriting generally blends heavy rock intensity with irresistible melodic touches, and though each of their albums has been some level of departure from the last, the basis is always a blend of these two energies. Meatbodies are renowned for their frenetic live shows, as are Dilly Child's Madrid-based Black Maracas, who'll provide a suitably fuzzed-out, psych-drenched support set.
