Mixtur Festival 2025
By Charlotte Stace

Mixtur Festival was founded in Barcelona in 2012 with the aim of contributing to the process of creating, teaching and more extensively distributing contemporary music and sound art intertwined with the science of sound itself and the creative arts. Its 14th edition will transform the city into a hub for experimental sound, offering audiences more than 20 concerts alongside installations, lectures, masterclasses, discussions and family activities.
Performances will be staged at key venues including L’Auditori, Fabra i Coats, the Museu de la Música, and Santa Mònica. The line-up features internationally acclaimed artists such as composer Manos Tsangaris, soprano Juliet Fraser, violinist Karin Hellqvist, and composer Rebecca Saunders, as well as ensembles like Plural Ensemble, Harmonic Space Orchestra, and Ensemble Musikfabrik. This year’s highlights include a tribute to Luciano Berio’s Sequenze and four new commissions by contemporary composers.
True to its mission, Mixtur also fosters education and inclusivity through workshops and participatory programmes.
