Molly Nilsson
By Kit Macdonald

A cult fixture in the world of DIY synth-pop, Molly Nilsson has built a fiercely independent career since her breakthrough in the mid-2000s, recording and releasing through her own label, Dark Skies Association, designing her own cover art, directing her own videos and organising her own tours. Not even living in Berlin – hardly the first destination that conjures images of poetic solitude – has been able to stop her from cultivating an unmatched aura of poetic solitude.
This show is part of a tour to promote Amateur, her 12th studio album, and another collection of the kind of urgent, breezy synth-pop gems for which she is adored. Support comes from the Mallorcan artist Sofia, who is not a million miles away from being a younger Spanish version of Nilsson (though she is keen to point out that she makes pop-synth rather than synth-pop). Get down early and let the brilliant work of two huge talents wash over you.
