Berlin-based ensemble Move 78 brings their fusion of jazz and hip-hop to Sala Apolo. Known for blending free-flowing improvisation with programmed beats, the group’s name is inspired by a pivotal move in a Go match between Lee Sedol and AI program AlphaGo.

The group is made up of Doron Segal (keyboards), Hal Strewe (bass), Nir Sabag (drums), Aver (sampler/production) and Meravi Goldman (French horn). Their creative process involves hours of studio improvisations, which are then meticulously edited and layered with additional instrumentation.

Their backlist includes notable releases such as The Algorithm Smiles Upon You (2021), Automated Improvisation (2022) and Grains (2023). These works have garnered international attention, receiving airplay on stations like Worldwide FM, NTS and NPR, and accumulating over 15 million streams across various platforms.
