Patricia Wolf 2026
By Kit Macdonald

Portland-based composer, sound designer and field recordist Patricia Wolf blends synths, voice and found-sound environmental recordings into richly atmospheric ambient music. She first became known for her work as a member of the synth-pop duo Soft Metals before moving into introspection, spaciousness and deep engagement and connection with the natural world as a solo artist.
Her 2022 debut album, I'll Look for You in Others, explored grief and remembrance via delicate electronics and field recordings, while the follow-up, See-Through, was a more hopeful collection that solidified Wolf's lofty place in the ambient music scene. Her latest is Hrafnamynd, the soundtrack to the experimental filmmaker Edward Pack Davee's feature-length documentary of the same name. It mixes field recordings with "AFX-like lullaby themes, tape-mangled instrumental vamps and VHS-burn'd analogue pads".
