Best-known as a founding member of the boundary-pushing trio Dawn of Midi nearly 20 years ago, the Pakistani-American composer Qasim Naqvi has spent the past decade expanding his practice beyond percussion into richly textured, often austere electronic works. Where Dawn of Midi’s music was built from acoustic instruments played with near-mechanical precision, Naqvi’s solo output turns inward – he sculpts sound through synthesis, drones and minimal melodic fragments.

His latest LP, last year's Endling, is a modular synth album that imagines the journey of the last human being on Earth. Eight compositions paint a futuristic landscape where the natural and the artificial merge in the aftermath of civilisational collapse.
