RUBIO + HOONINE
By Charlotte Stace

Sala La Nau brings us a night of moody pop with performances from Rubio and Hoonine.
Rubio is the solo project of Chilean musician Fran Straube, formerly of Miss Garrison, whose sound mixes experimental pop, trip hop, electronic music and Latin American sounds. Her solo project began around 2015 as a more personal space for her own songwriting, before releasing her 2016 self-titled EP. Her albums to date include Pez (2018), Mango Negro (2020) and Venus & Blue (2023).
Hoonine, the solo project of Barcelona-born artist Carmen Alarcón, brings a more R&B-leaning sound, mixing neo-soul and electronics. Her album Una foto al sol won Best Electronic Music and Other Trends Album at the 2025 Yepes Music Awards in Murcia, while singles like “Noche de verano,” “Amor líquido,” and “Tarde de abril” are gaining momentum across Spain’s alternative scene.
