RUSF Series: Roxanne Harris (live coding) + XIWIRE (live coding)
By Kit Macdonald

"Blurring the lines between concept, music and art, the fourth RUSF Series concert sees Roxanne Harris and XIWIRE creating music generated live through code." This is the fourth concert of the RUSF (Roca Umbert Sound Factory) Series, which bills itself as opening a window onto the world of music generated live through code, in which the algorithm becomes both an instrument and a conduit for improvisation.
Roxanne Harris will give a live coding performance in which sound emerges directly from lines of code written in real time. "The creative process becomes visible as it happens, turning the stage into a space of experimentation where error, algorithmic transparency and digital intuition guide the music."
XIWIRE, also drawing from the energy of live coding and their own programmed synths, will build a landscape of hard rhythms and abrasive textures leavened by luminous arps. Their live set brings together aspects of rave culture, the internet underground and noise music.
