Sara Rahman
By Kit Macdonald
This looks like an unmissable night even by the lofty standards of Casa Montjuic - easily one of the best and most consistent experimental music venues in the city. British-Algerian headliner Sara Rahman is a composer, musician and interdisciplinary researcher who crafts cinematic, intimate ambient and experimental electronic tracks using her voice, a cello and effects units.
Both support acts are well worth your time too, so get down early if you can. Marçal Xirau is a Catalan musician resident in London whose immersive sets explore the territory between ambient, pop, experimental electronics and abstract noise. Da Rocha Um and Francisco Morgan will also present a collaborative live set based on their original compositions for films, with the aim of creating their "definitive soundtrack" on the live stage. Doors are at 7.30pm and Marçal Xirau is the first artist onstage at 8pm, with Rahman on at 9pm and Da Rocha Um and Morgan at 9.45pm.
