Susumu Yokota, who died far too young in 2015, was one of electronic music’s great shapeshifters, a producer whose work moved effortlessly between techno, ambient, house and sample-based collage. Born in Tokyo in 1960, he began his career in the early Nineties as a house and techno DJ, releasing dancefloor records under aliases such as Prism and Ebi, but it was under his own name, particularly from the late Nineties onward, that he developed the deeply personal sound for which he is now best known.

This deep listening session at one of the city's finest audio bars is part of a Susumu Yokota World Listening Tour presented by Lo Recordings to celebrate his music and to coincide with a huge reissue campaign of all 14 of the albums originally released on Yokota's own Skintone label. At this session three Yokota albums from 2002/3, Will, The Boy and The Tree and Laputa, will be played on Curtis's renowned sound system.
