The Night Times + The High Learys
By Kit Macdonald

Having brought us an unmissable show by Hayden Pedigo on September 22, the promoters Magic Mountain roar back in double-quick time with this tour show from a thrillingly urgent and uncompromising Los Angeles garage rock band, The Night Times. Formed in the mid-2010s, their raison d'etre has always been the creation of an impossibly raw, high-energy sound and stage presence that pays raucous homage to the gritty spirit of the 1960s proto-punk sound and energy of bands such as the The Sonics, The Seeds and The Standells, and possibly some bands whose names aren't the definite article followed by an S-word too.
This show is very much one to get down to early, given that the support band have come all the way from Perth, Western Australia, and are, more importantly, very good. The High Learys, who'll be onstage at around 8.30pm, have been making top-notch psych-rock for around 15 years now, and are categorically not to be missed, no matter how appealing that extra pre-show jarra is looking.
