Looking for something Christmassy to do to get in the festive spirit? We’ve got just the thing - the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès perform Tchaikovsky's Christmas classic The Nutcracker at the Palau de la Musica.
With The Nutcracker, op. 71, Tchaikovsky instilled tenderness and love, empathy, imagination and hope into ETA Hoffmann's timeless Christmas tale. It tells the magical story of Clara, a young girl who receives a Nutcracker doll from her godfather, Drosselmeyer, on Christmas Eve. That night, the Nutcracker comes to life, leading toy soldiers in a battle against the Mouse King. After helping the Nutcracker win, Clara is transported to a magical kingdom where the Nutcracker becomes a prince. Together, they journey to the Land of Sweets, ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy, who hosts a celebration in their honor. Clara enjoys dances from around the world before waking, unsure if it was all a dream.
