A rare treat here as The Zawose Queens – aka Tanzanian duo Leah and Pendo Zawose – visit Casa Montjuic to bring their mix of percussion, polyrhythms, vocals and electronic sounds, which have taken their country's Wagogo musical tradition to new territories, to the stage.

The sisters hail from the famous Zawose musical family, which is renowned for preserving the rich vocal and instrumental traditions of the Wagogo people. Their music blends hypnotic polyphonic singing, thumb piano, ngoma percussion and other indigenous instruments with subtle electronic textures, creating a sound that feels both deeply rooted and deeply contemporary. Their 2024 debut album, Maisha, introduced international audiences to their thrilling blend of heritage and innovation while remaining firmly connected to the communal spirit of traditional performance. Doors are at 8.30pm and the sisters are onstage at 9pm, tickets from Dice.
