Waltz and Dance Festival
By Charlotte Stace

The Waltz and Dance Festival invites us to celebrate the holiday season with a night of rhythm and dance. The Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, conducted by Xavier Puig and featuring soprano Laura del Río, will perform a delightful programme of waltzes, polkas and other gems from Viennese and European dance traditions.
The programme features crowd-pleasers such as Bernstein’s vibrant “Mambo” from West Side Story, Johann Strauss II’s lively Die Fledermaus overture, the dreamy Valse triste by Sibelius, and Strauss favourites like Künstlerleben and The Blue Danube. Vocal highlights include Bellini’s “Ah! non giunge uman pensiero” and Arditi’s sparkling Il bacio, while Catalan gems like Garreta’s La mosca and Martínez Valls’ “En el Vallespir” add a touch of local music to the lineup.
It promises to be the perfect way to bid farewell to the year with a smile and raise a toast - straight from the Palau de la Música - to a new year filled with music and good wishes.
