This one’s for the culture vultures - the CCCB hosts a talk with the artist William Kentridge and writer Julian Barnes. They come to talk about their creative worlds and shared interest in art, literature and music.

Kentridge is one of the leading figures in the world of contemporary art. He integrates a range of disciplines into his work, from animation to drawing, film to music and theatre. Barnes, on the other hand, is one of the most revered novelists of our times, with a natural ability to merge genres and cross borders.

Both artists also share a love of music, which has led them to create works inspired by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, such as Barnes' novel The Noise of Time (2016), and the film Oh To Believe in Another World that Kentridge created for Shostakovich's Symphony No.10. In this conversation, they will discuss the role of music in their lives and reflect on their creative process.
