World Brain
By Kit Macdonald

French musician Lucas Chantre inhabits a delightful territory between experimental pop, psychedelic electronics and homespun songwriting with his World Brain project, which he has been working on since 2019. A member of the Berlin experimental pop group Fenster going back to 2013, Chantre launched World Brain with Peer 2 Peer, an album that explored the promise and pitfalls of digital connectivity through playful synths, offbeat rhythms and quiet, affecting melodies.
Influences as diverse as Kate Bush, Aphex Twin and Devo have continued to make themselves felt in the cinematic pop of Chantre's subsequent albums as World Brain – 2024's Open Source and World vs Brain, which came out earlier this month. Doors are at 8.30pm, Chantre is onstage at 9pm and tickets are on Dice.
