Xavi Torres

Jamboree Jazz Club welcomes an evening with the Catalan pianist Xavi Torres and his band, featuring Reinier Elizarde on bass and Andreu Pitarch on drums.
Hailing from Tarragona, Torres is undoubtedly one of the great pianists of his generation. In 2019, he released his debut album Curiosity, followed shortly after by Kind of Beethoven in 2022. His latest album Quarentena Songs released late last year is a collection of songs written during the pandemic lockdown. For a month, Torres wrote music “as if it were an exercise” he explains, producing one piece per day. The purpose of that “exercise” was to keep the flame of energy and creativity burning throughout that tough time.
The result is music linked to the reality of the moment “and its struggles,” he adds. This music combines a series of themes that express different feelings: a journey from sadness to hope, from nostalgia to gratitude.
