Africa Fashion Week
By Yvonne Mannix
Barcelona has a strong fashion and design heritage and this is reflected in the wealth of events hosted here each year. The annual Africa Fashion Week has been part of the city’s calendar for the previous five years and this sixth edition sees them return to celebrate the abundance of designers hailing from the continent
With catwalk shows featuring clothes from emerging and established haute couture and prêt-à-porter designers, there’s a plethora of fashion on offer. The Pride of Africa award will be presented on Sunday, this year honoring designer Kwame Koranteng, whose bespoke tailoring is a perfect marriage of traditional English tailoring techniques and inspiration from his Ghanaian heritage.
The two-day event is open to all who are interested in fashion, design and African culture. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about the African designers making their mark on the international fashion scene.
