Celebrate Christmas at the Reial Monestir de Santa Maria de Pedralbes, the Monastery of Pedralbes, this week with a concert featuring sacred and operatic works by Antonio Vivaldi and Domènec Terradellas.

The Monastery of Pedralbes is one of the most important historical buildings in Barcelona. It was founded in 1327 by Queen Elisenda de Montcada for the Poor Clare, nuns of the Franciscan Order who resided there until 1983. This concert offers the opportunity to experience the grandeur of the Italian Baroque. It highlights the enduring influence of the Venetian masters Antonio Vivaldi and Domènec Terradellas.

With Vivaldi’s Salve Regina in F major - an Advent gem honoring the Virgin Mary - at its heart, the program also features operatic arias from Orlando furioso and Il Farnace, and the overture to Ottone in villa. Complementing Vivaldi’s brilliance is Terradellas’ music, including the overture to Artaserse and arias from his operas and sacred works. Tickets cost 12 Euros. Concert starts at 8.30pm.
