Cristina Iglesias - Passages
By Charlotte Stace

La Pedrera presents the exhibition Cristina Iglesias. Passages, the first solo show in Barcelona of one of the leading artists in contemporary sculpture. The show features 40 works created since 2002, including suspended pavilions, labyrinths, corridors and murals.
Iglesias's work is renowned for its ability to transform spaces through the use of industrial and natural materials, such as steel, water, glass, bronze, bamboo and straw. Her installations often blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, organic and artificial, creating environments that engage viewers in multiple ways. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience her work within the context of a building that itself challenges conventional architectural forms.
Born in San Sebastián in 1956, she’s developed a distinctive sculptural style that draws from architecture, literature, and site-specific influences. Her installations have been featured in various international exhibitions and public commissions, including representations at the Venice Biennale and the Sydney Biennale.
