Forro da Jabu
By Charlotte Stace
Diobar hosts a forró session led by Brazilian artist Jabu Morales. Known for her electric and vibrant performances, she’ll be joined by special guests, promising a lively evening infused with South American spirit. After moving from Minas Gerais, Brazil, to Barcelona in 2011, Morales immersed herself in the city’s music scene and has collaborated with a range of international musicians to produce music that bridges European and South American sounds.
Forró is a lively music and dance style originating from Brazil's northeastern region. It blends accordion, zabumba drum and triangle to create an upbeat, danceable sound rooted in Brazilian folk traditions. Traditionally associated with festivals and social gatherings, forró has gained international popularity. It’s celebrated for its energetic melodies that bring people together in an atmosphere of joy and cultural connection.
What better way to bring the weekend to a close than by letting yourself go to the rhythms of forró?
