HUMAN presents: Antigone + CJ Bolland
By Kit Macdonald
A real Franco-Belgian feel at HUMAN this Saturday courtesy of two selectors with a wealth of experience in the worlds of techno and acid. Antigone, aka Antonin Jeanson, is a longtime mainstay of Paris's techno firmament and created what felt like an unofficial anthem for the scene in 2012's Menace Of The Species. It was on a Belgian label, Token, that Jeanson really came into his own as a producer, however, with a clutch of releases on the Ghent imprint in the middle of the last decade allowing him to perfect his twinkling, emotional brand of techno.
CJ Bolland (pictured) has been driving Belgium's acid and techno scene forward for well over 30 years, with seminal early-90s tracks like Camargue now part of the country's musical canon, though just as many people will know him for the 1995 single Sugar Is Sweeter, which was given chart-topping remix by Armand Van Helden. Local DJ NIZ will kick things off in the main room, while the second room will host sets from Malena, acidheaven, Berenice and Simona.
