Joaquín Tusquets de Cabirol. Eloquent Form
By Charlotte Stace

Joaquín Tusquets de Cabirol. Eloquent Form introduces the work of a meticulous Catalan amateur photographer whose images capture postwar life. A chemist by profession, Tusquets de Cabirol devoted his free time to photography during the 1940s and 1950s, working outside professional circuits but with remarkable consistency and care.
His practice was rooted in close attention to detail, not only to the moment of taking the photograph, but also to the developing and printing processes, which he carried out himself. As a member of the Agrupación Fotográfica de Cataluña, he was part of an amateur photographic culture shaped by outings, competitions, image-sharing and collective exchange.
The exhibition focuses on everyday life in the city, the coastline and rural settings, revealing a coherent body of work alive to form, atmosphere and changing photographic tastes.
