Jolie Holland + Mark McKowski
By Charlotte Stace
American singer and songwriter Jolie Holland comes to Razzmatazz. Known for combining multiple musical genres from folk to traditional, experimental to rock, she comes to promote music from her brand new album, Haunted Mountain (2023). Both ancient and of the moment, this record teems with literary and political interconnections.
Her new music illuminates states of dispossession and alienation, lust and pollination: a state of reciprocity with our living planet. The record is a creation that, like much of her work, blends multiple genres and is one of her most original and heart-wrenching pieces of work to date. Before this she released hit records such as Catalpa (2003), Springtime Can Kill You (2006), and The Living and the Dead (2008).
Jolie brings with her the excellently talented Mark McKowski (Lost Brothers) who will play in her band and open the show with some of his own solo work. Don’t miss these two in action.
