Karine
By Kit Macdonald

Karine was and remains a vital part of Kyiv's Closer club, a legendary spot in Ukraine's capital that has danced on through four years of sometimes near-daily Russian drone and missile attacks. Karine herself is one of the large community of Ukrainian women artists who relocated to Berlin in early 2022, and there she has continued to rep for her beloved home club and hone a sound founded in her exceptional musicality and immense experience in mindful listening and dancing.
She describes the records she plays in a typical set as "a colourful spectrum of deep, minimalist, hypnotic, groovy, and quirky sounds depicting an array of periods and moods spanning multiple genres from house and techno to breakbeat, electro and more. Support comes from local fixture Dafoe, a Nitsa resident and founder of the record label what.if in collaboration with Amin Ravelle, whose sound touches on "minimalistic grooves, breaks, finest deep house, bass, old-school acid house, electro Detroit gems and crazy tech-house".
