Literary Tours - Orwell
By Charlotte Stace
The CCCB brings its series of Literary Tours through Orwell’s Barcelona. As part of the tour, it takes attendees in the footsteps of George Orwell through Barcelona with the help of historians, photographers and writers who are experts in ‘Homage to Catalonia’.
The English novelist is considered to be one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. He went to Catalunya in 1936 to fight in the Spanish Civil War. His experiences in fighting in this conflict gave rise to his famous book, Homage to Catalonia (1938). A text that has stood the test of time, it provides an account of the anarcho-syndicalist social revolution in Barcelona.
This new Literary Tour will take you to the key locations and monuments that appear in the writer’s chronicle. It lasts 2 hours and is free of charge.
