Luke Goebel in conversation with Josh Denslow

The American author and screenwriter Luke Goebel won various awards for his debut novel, Fourteen Stories, None of Them Are Yours, and his second one, Kill Dick, looks set to make a similarly impressive splash. Set in LA, it follows a 19-year-old NYU dropout, Susie Vogelman, who has "no responsibilities, endless prescription pills, and a Brentwood estate to waste away in". A string of brutal murders of addicts spreads through the city, thoroughly disrupting the degenerate ivory tower she has sequestered herself in.
The names David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, Bret Easton Ellis and Joan Didion have been peppering the book's reviews so far. Goebel will discuss Kill Dick with author Josh Denslow at this event, which runs from 6pm to 7.30pm at Backstory's main store on Carrer de Mallorca. Entry is free – just RSVP on the event page.
