Lyra Pramuk
By Kit Macdonald
The perpetually intriguing Dnit concert series at Caixaforum returns with a bang after its summer break with a live show from Berlin-based American musician, vocalist and composer Lyra Pramuk. Fountain, her 2020 debut album, made a splash on the experimental music scene thanks to its masterful distilling of choral music, ambient, pop, and experimental electronics with lyrical themes of transition and fluidity that spoke to her experiences as a transgender woman.
Just as she does in the studio, Pramuk generally uses no traditional instruments on the live stage, instead manipulating layered samples of her own voice. Expect emotional, transcendent atmospheres from a live performer who has built a devoted following in the post-pandemic years. Balman plays a support DJ set in the cafeteria from 8pm, and Pramuk is onstage at 10pm.
