Secretsundaze
By Thomas Macaulay
For those of you still standing on the Sabbath after Sónar, La Terrrazza plays host to the now infamous Secretsundaze party in what will be Giles Smith and James Priestley’s second soirée of the weekend (after Off at Fòrum on Friday). With Leon Vynehall, Ryan Elliott and Nummer (live) on the lineup, you’d do well to request the Monday off now or start scheming a credible excuse for your absence from work.
Vynehall’s Music for the Uninvited on 3024 was one of the standout house albums of the last two years. For a while, it seemed that you couldn’t listen to a mix without hearing “It’s Just (House of Dupree)” – and rightly so, it’s a belter. Ghostly International/Spectral Sounds cohort Ryan Elliot returns with his no-nonsense brand of bassline-driven techno and house, while Nummer will be keeping things dark and driving with their impressive live performance. Anyone who saw their Boiler Room set will know that’s worth the sick note alone.
(Update: advance tickets are sold out but some will be available at the door.)
