British rock band Slowdive comes to perform at Razzmatazz. Hailing from Reading, they formed in the early 1990s and are considered one of the earliest pioneers in the genres of shoegaze and dreampop.
They remained on the fringes of mainstream throughout the 90s while Britpop was at the forefront of the music scene. However, their ambient dreamscape sound has influenced a number of contemporary musicians, including dreampop band Beach House and blackgaze band Deafheaven. After splitting up in 1995, the group reunited during the genre’s resurgence in 2014 for a performance at Primavera Sound. After this, they released their self-titled album in 2017 – their first musical project in over 20 years.
