Irish indie rock band The Academic comes to Razzmatazz. Hailing from Killucan, County Westmeath, the band consists of Craig Fitzgerald, Dean Gavin, and brothers Matthew and Stephen Murtagh.
Their debut studio album, Tales from the Backseat, was released in 2018 and went straight to the top of the Irish Albums Chart at number one. The record was nominated for Album of the Year at the Choice Music Prize in 2019. Then came their second studio album, Sitting Pretty, which was released last year and exploded onto the scene once more at number one. The group's influences include 2000s retro-rock like The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Vampire Weekend, as well as older new wave bands such as Talking Heads and New Order.
Since releasing their debut record five years ago, they’ve gone on to play sell out shows and festivals across Ireland, the US, the UK and Europe. Now they’re on a new tour to promote their latest music. Get your tickets now.
