Antoni Clavé in Capital Letters
By Charlotte Stace

The Palau Martorell presents Antoni Clavé in Capital Letters, a major retrospective marking the 20th anniversary of the Catalan artist’s death. The exhibition gathers over 80 masterpieces from public and private collections, including previously unseen works.
Clavé (1913-2005) was a versatile artist whose work spans painting, sculpture, engraving, set design and poster art. From his basic training in his native Barcelona, where he learned the craft and absorbed the artistic tensions of his time, to his consecration in post-war Paris and his global recognition, Clavé built a body of work that is both a witness to his time and an expression of timeless research.
The exhibition is held across two venues, the Palau Martorell and the Reial Cercle Artístic, with the same ticket granting access to the Clavé Rooms at the Palau de la Generalitat on select days.
