As summer winds down, Barcelona Gallery Weekend offers a very good reason to swap the beach for four walls. Now in its 12th edition, the event launches the new art season with 25 galleries and more than 50 national and international artists. It’s the perfect excuse to see what’s happening in contemporary art. 

The programme this year offers both emerging practices and major names, with work by artists including Mounira Al Solh, Ana Jotta and Eulàlia Valldosera alongside Miró, Dalí, Picasso, Alexander Calder and Niki de Saint Phalle. Additionally, 13 FLASH exhibitions add projects created to be seen only during this special weekend.

And there’s plenty beyond the galleries too with performances, conversations, artist visits and GalleryWalks, complete with a vermut afterwards. Whether you’re an art aficionado or simply fancy discovering something new, it’s an easy way into Barcelona’s ever-evolving art scene.
