Barcelona Hat Stroll
By Charlotte Stace

Passejada amb Barret - the Barcelona Hat Stroll - is one of the city’s most charmingly eccentric spring rituals: a city stroll dedicated entirely to hats. Organised by milliners Cristina de Prada and Nina Pawlowsky, the event began in 2005 and has grown into a much-loved annual celebration of headwear in all its forms, from elegance to full theatrical flourish.
What makes it so much fun is the mix of fashion and pure people-watching. The event invites anyone taking part to wear everything from flat caps and berets to fascinators, turbans and top hats. But there’s more to it than meets the eye, it’s an opportunity to see the handiwork of professional millinery, homemade creations and wonderfully over-the-top costume pieces all sharing the same space.
More than a parade, it feels like a light-hearted ode to personal style. For anyone drawn to fashion, spectacle or a bit of classic city-pageantry, this remains one of the calendar’s most delightful events.
