Barcelona’s Christmas Lights Ceremony
By Charlotte Stace

The Christmas season officially begins with the grand ceremony for turning on Barcelona's Christmas lights. This much-loved annual event transforms Passeig de Gràcia into a glittering wonderland of lights, marking the start of festive celebrations across the city. Both locals and visitors will gather to watch as thousands of sparkling bulbs bring the street’s architecture to life in a dazzling display.
This year’s lighting ceremony features an exciting show that blends music, dance and performance art: Solvern is the street art production created especially for the occasion, by the internationally renowned company Aktionstheater PAN.OPTIKUM (Freiburg) and the Barcelona urban dance company Iron Skulls. There’ll be 28 performers moving across 5 stages making the event bigger and better than ever.
If you’d like to join in the fun, head over to Passeig de Gràcia on November 22nd at 6pm. As usual, this event is free and open to all. Get there early to get a good spot.
