Carnival in Sitges
By Charlotte Stace

If you’re wondering where the best Carnaval party is happening this year, then look no further than Sitges. This idyllic little seaside town has celebrated Carnaval for over 100 years. It attracts thousands of people to the town for food, fancy dress, parades, parties and of course dancing in the streets until dawn.
The event kicks off with the arrival of His Majesty Carnestoltes, a symbolic figure who presides over the celebrations, and concludes with his ceremonial burial, marking the end of the festivities. A key highlight is the carnaval’s grand parades, which feature dazzling floats, elaborate costumes and a range of performances from local musicians. There’ll also be other activities such as the Fancy Dress Bed Race and The Ball del Fardo, which you don’t want to miss.
So, if you’re looking for debauchery, decadence and lots of dancing, then grab your friends and head over to Sitges. We’ll see you there.
