Catalan Book Week 2025
By Charlotte Stace

Held for the first time in 1983, La Setmana del Llibre en Català (Catalan Book Week) has never missed its annual presentation. Now, after 40 years, it’s established itself as one of the most important cultural events in the region. A celebration of Catalan-language literature, it unites readers, authors, publishers and booksellers for one whole week.
The event’s aim is to ultimately contribute to the growth of the number of readers in the Catalan language. To make this happen, there’ll be hundreds of activities ranging from author presentations and panel discussions to storytelling and musical recitals. There’ll also be stalls to peruse featuring publishers, bookstores, magazines and cultural organisations, offering rich encounters with the Catalan literary world.
They say that one of the best ways to pick up a language is through reading. So, if you’d like to brush up on your Catalan, this event offers the perfect chance to explore and buy a range of books in this language.
