If Gràcia’s festa major leaves you wanting more, Sants is just around the corner. One of Barcelona’s great neighbourhood celebrations, the Festa Major de Sants mixes street decorations with community, traditional food and drink, and the party atmosphere that makes summer in the city so much fun.

This year, 11 streets and squares are entering the decoration competition, each transformed by neighbours around a different theme. Beyond the papier-mâché and recycled material spectacles, you’ll get to see castellers, correfocs, communal street dinners, live music and plenty of dancing, with actress and director Leticia Dolera delivering the opening speech.

The programme also brings concerts from Potser Dimarts and Roba Estesa, DJ sets and the traditional fireworks finale at Parc de l’Espanya Industrial. The great thing about it is that it’s a little less touristy than Gràcia’s festa major and all the better for it.
