Festa Major d’Horta 2025
By Charlotte Stace

Barcelona’s summer spirit shines brightest in its festes majors - the famous neighbourhood street parties that bring music, colour and tradition to every corner of the city. This September, it’s Horta’s turn to celebrate, as the Festa Major d’Horta fills this northern district with ten days of concerts, parades, communal meals and, of course, cultural Catalan traditions.
The festival opens with the cercavila procession and proclamation at Parc de les Rieres. Then, we’re treated to a whole host of activities, from vermut rumbero sessions and circus tasters to traditional dances and open-air concerts. Family events include scavenger hunts, sports contests and children’s workshops, while the foodies can enjoy paella competitions, craft beer fairs, and much more.
Tradition is at the heart of this festa major, with sardana dances, havaneres, castells, and the correfoc fire run. Closing with fireworks and music, the celebration captures Barcelona’s unique mix of community, culture and joy.
