Festival 42 2025

The Fabra i Coats hosts Festival 42, the city’s number one literature festival specialising in fantasy, science-fiction and horror.
The 2025 lineup features renowned international authors such as China Miéville, V.E. Schwab, David Lloyd, Fonda Lee and Ben Aaronovitch. Catalan voices like Joan-Lluís Lluís, Rosa Montero and Care Santos also contribute to the festival's diverse programming.
This year, the focus will be on Catalan mythology and the literary roots of fantasy genres. The figure of the monster will serve as a lens to explore how the different, the strange, and the threatening continue to inspire contemporary creation. Another major theme will be climate fiction, in which more authors are imagining possible futures in the face of ecological crisis. There will also be a lens on feminist and LGTBIQ+ perspectives, reaffirming fantasy genres as a space of resistance, representation and social transformation.
