Fira literal 2025
By Charlotte Stace

Fira Literal 2025, the 11th edition of Barcelona’s radical book and ideas fair, returns to Fabra i Coats. The event brings together over 100 independent publishers and bookstores, offering a marketplace of more than 6,000 titles centred on critical thought and transformative literature. With the theme “Imagining futures is the beginning of building them,” this year’s fair continues to serve as a hub for reflection, dialogue and community-building.
The weekend program features a rich lineup of talks, debates and performances. Notable speakers include: Japanese philosopher Kohei Saito, American abolitionist scholar Ruth Wilson Gilmore, British feminist writer Lola Olufemi, and literary theorist Terry Eagleton. Catalan storyteller Inés Macpherson will open the fair, while activist Simona Levi, cultural critic Ingrid Guardiola, and journalist David Fernàndez will close it.
Aside from literature, there’ll be live music, poetry readings and a family-friendly area with storytelling and creative workshops.
