Memefest 2025
By Charlotte Stace

Memefest 2025 is a celebration of digital folklore and internet humour, exploring how online culture can reclaim creativity and community in an age of algorithms. This year, the festival invites us to think about the “bedroom internet” - a personal, DIY space of creation and connection beyond corporate platforms.
The evening opens with humourist Indicatiu, whose talk questions our dependence on social media and the toll of digital overstimulation. Later, Emma Soler and Àlex Vila dissect influencer culture with wit and warmth, while Semproniana and Anamurada journey through fandom communities that keep online creativity alive through fan fiction, art and collaboration.
Closing with a talk by María Barrier, Ouineta and Llum, Memefest imagines a world in which we create the internet we want. To finish up, the evening ends with a DJ set from Llum.
