Barcelona has no shortage of places to explore, but Montjuïc Cemetery might be one of its most fascinating. Opened in 1883, the sprawling hillside cemetery is home to grand mausoleums, beautiful sculptures and the graves of some of the city's most notable figures. It is offering a series of daytime guided tours that give us a different way to discover Barcelona's history, through the people who helped shape it.

The tours focus on the period between 1883 and 1936, when Barcelona underwent big social, political and artistic change. You’ll be able to explore the cemetery's impressive architecture, including Modernista tombs and sculptures, while also learning about the city's industrial growth, cultural movements and influential personalities. There are both artistic and historical routes, as well as a combined itinerary covering both. It’s a great way to spend the day if you’re interested in art, architecture or Barcelona's past.
