The CCCB hosts a new debate entitled ‘New Urban Imaginaries. Perspectives from the Global South’. It invites three urban experts - Teresa Caldeira (Sao Paulo), Gautam Bhan (Bangalore) and Nzinga Biegueng Mboup (Dakar) - to discuss the transformations and challenges that some of the great metropolises of the Global South experience daily.

The “city” presents us with a deep understanding of contemporary life. Most of the world's population lives in cities, making them spaces that develop forms of coexistence and collective imaginaries that define a large part of our day-to-day lives. Today's cities are spaces of transit and global circulation that reflect the diversity and cultural richness of our time, but they’re also significantly impacted by inequalities, migration and climate change.

In the context of such disruptive transformation, the CCCB opens up a debate centred on the cities of the Global South - those that are the home to most of the world's population - to help understand the future of these spaces.
