October Hot
By Charlotte Stace

Autumn may have arrived, but Port Gallery is keeping the temperature up with October Hot, a group exhibition bringing together five contemporary artists whose work jumps between colour, abstraction, figuration and visual experimentation. The result offers us five very different ways of looking at the world.
The line-up includes Vera D, known for vivid colour; Gizi, whose tender, naïve paintings animate people, animals and everyday objects; Ramón Navarra, who plays with architecture and spatial forms; Sergio Zavarzin who brings a taste for paradox and mixed techniques; and Chunhui Zhang adding another distinct contemporary voice to the mix.ç
Port Gallery itself is a contemporary art space just a stone’s throw from La Rambla. It champions both emerging and established artists, with a regularly changing programme of painting, sculpture and installations. It particularly focuses on giving newer voices room to be seen.
