The Spanish painter and writer Paula Bonet presents the exhibition, ‘The eel. Flesh as painting and painting as a mirror’. She received her degree in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and completed her artistic education in Santiago de Chile, New York and Urbino.

Bonet is known for exploring a visual language based on abstraction that enters into a dialogue with her written work. In this exhibition, her new artworks are displayed alongside text from her autobiographical novel, L’anguila (The eel) (2021).

She seeks to unite painting and literature in a single work, and manages to create communicative connections between the written word and each stroke of the paintbrush. Bonet reflects on the world that surrounds us and especially on questions and themes that particularly affect women: sexuality, birth and abortion are the main themes running throughout this project.
