Provisional title. Manel Esclusa
By Charlotte Stace

he Arxiu Fotogràfic presents Provisional Title, an exhibition exploring the work of Catalan photographer Manel Esclusa. The collection features photographs from his early projects - Barcelona Ciutat Imaginada (1988) and Musa Museu (1992) - originally commissioned by the Ajuntament during one of the city’s most transformative periods.
Born in Vic, Esclusa is recognised as a key figure in 20th-century Catalan photography. His work delves into the interplay between light and shadow, capturing the essence of urban environments. Through his lens, he offers us a visual exploration of Barcelona's evolving urban landscape over time. This exhibition not only revisits the photographer’s contributions to photographic art, but also invites us to engage with Barcelona's historical and cultural shifts.
Esclusa’s work has been shown in solo and collective exhibitions and in international museums around the world, such as the Il Diaframma Gallery of Milan, the Houston Center for Photography, and the Canon Photo-Gallery of Amsterdam.
