The Black Madonna
By Matthew Duffield
When it comes to talking the talk and walking the walk, The Black Madonna is head and shoulders above most DJs. Musically, her sets are a fusion of funked-up, energy-driven house and techno, laced with disco, electric and acid flavors.
They’re a joyous celebration of music and life, and it’s an attitude that she infectiously transmits to the dance floor. When it comes to social issues, she’s never afraid to call out discrimination against those who are marginalized and demand equality. We need this spirit in dance music more than ever, and Barcelona welcomes The Black Madonna to Nitsa at Apolo on Friday, February 21st.
She’ll be the special guest at the Somoslas party as part of her We Still Believe: Choose Love tour, with Jason Kendig of the Honey Soundsystem and DJ Coco also playing. For those who still believe, this is the place to be.
