The Collector is Present

This May, the third edition of The Collector is Present comes to Barcelona. A special spring initiative from Barcelona Gallery Weekend, it explores the role of private collectors in shaping contemporary art.
Across four days, 16 gallerists in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet will collaborate directly with collectors to present exhibitions, talks and guided visits, creating a unique public-facing programme that highlights the dialogue between artists, galleries and art buyers.
Each participating gallery offers a distinct collaboration, with collectors co-curating or inspiring presentations based on personal perspectives and collections. Highlights include ethall’s group show with Jorge Bravo and Violeta Mayoral, Pigment Gallery’s exploration of works by Julio Vaquero, and Senda’s multidisciplinary discussion on collecting as a creative act. Each of the events are free and open to the public. The aim is to encourage broader access to contemporary art and a deeper understanding of what drives collectors and artists alike.
